submission for LAPS honours with Australian Photographic Society
Well I have both my fingers (and toes) crossed this week having just submitted 12 of my photographs for the LAPS honours (Licentiateship of Australian Photographic Society) judging panel.  Being my own worst critic when it comes to my photographs (I guess that is the bit of perfectionist in me ;) ) - I was hesitating about submitting, but a huge thank you to the encouragement that I received from some fellow APS photographers to take this step.  Usually LAPS honours are awarded from the accumulation of points from National and International photographic exhibition acceptances which normally takes a number of years to accumulate. As I have only been submitting images to Nationals and Internationals for the last 12 months I still had a ways to go to gain the required points.  With the Panel Submission method, you have to submit 12 images that are judged as a collection, by 5 judges that decide whether the images are National exhibition quality (as well as some other criteria).
I won’t find out the results until end of April, and even then will not be able to disclose the result until the annual Australian Photographic Society awards dinner at their conference (APSCON) held in September 2008 - so will try not to think about it too much for now (sure!).    You never know, until you try right?! ;)   Here are a few images from the submission:

twin baby girls!
One week old twin baby girls - what a treat to be able to photograph!  Love photographing newborns, so was very happy when asked to do this portrait shoot :)  Still going through the shots from the day but just a few teasers - and a big thanks to my assistant for the day, Leonie, who was wonderful in helping out with the ‘girls’.

portrait shoot - models at pullenvale
Once a year the Brisbane Camera Group organise a portrait shoot at a lovely location at Pullenvale - it is a great opportunity to catch up with some other photographers and also to photograph some new models - often some justing starting out with their modelling careers.  This is the second year that I have had the opportunity to attend.
It was an excellent day with lots of  models to work with - and also wonderful to socialise with others who are passionate about their photography.
Some shots from the day . . .
